Ayurveda - Acid peptic disease of gastro intestinal tract

A 75 year old patient came to Sanjeevani referred by his allopathic doctor, a very senior practitioner who often sends his patients to Dr. Girija for what allopathy cannot handle well. The doctor requested that his chronic ‘Acid peptic disease of gastro intestinal tract’ be addressed.

When he came his complaints were that the slightest spice in food would cause a severe burning of the chest and tongue. His digestion was sluggish , and a meal would take 6 hours to digest. His appetite was weak, and his bowel movement was difficult. His sense of well being was poor, and his eyes would burn. His complaints were all long standing.

He was recommended Amlapittahara Kashayam and Dhatri Loham to address Amla Pittam as indicated by the burning of his upper alimentary tract. Ayurvedic medicines all have many properties, and a choice is always made so as to take the symptoms all into account.

In a week he reported feeling much better, and that there was almost no burning and his appetite was good. Shadpala Grutham was added to his previous medicines.

The next week he was well, and said that his digestion, appetite and bowel movement was normal. He said his sleep which used to be disturbed was also good now. Kamaduga rasa was added to his medicines and he was asked to continue the same for another two weeks and stop.

Dr. Girija sent him back to his allopathic doctor with a note concluding the treatment.

Another chronic case handled smoothly in ayurveda in a matter of 2-3 weeks.
