Heroes of Chennai Floods

"Chennai floods and demonetisation
In a year lot has changed.
This was a year back and Facebook reminded me. But i can't resist posting this as i have been thinking how many people who came spontaneously to help or do their duty, especially fishermen who came with their boats. When they came they did not ask us why did you build your house in a lake area, why did you bribe the authorities to get clearance in a marshland, how did you illegally construct, how much u paid in black. They just helped without accusations
Today sadly i find many of us asking them why didn't you open a jan dhan account, the govt gave so many chances, you are standing in queue to earn a quick buck. Someone one going to the extent saying they generally under invoice their bills and have to be bought in the tax net many many more unmentionable things.
I wonder what would have happened to many of us if they had started arguing the same way about our morality and the legality of our structures.
Request you if possible please ponder at our own moral high ground and sense of entitlement

The devastation by rains in Chennai the government should acknowledge. Latha Vijayan, a domestic help and Cook has lost all her property as waters entered her home at Mudichur. The water.hasn't receded on her Street yet but officials want all those evacuated to return as schools where they are housed will reopen on Monday. Many like her will have to rebuild from scratch. Her husband is diabetic and she's the breadwinner. We spent an hour filming. At the end she didn't ask for any help. "Call me for any help or if anyone needs a Cook Sir" she said.

"There was this dilemma with the last food packet in hand and seeing this boy's look i gave it to him. He handed it over to another kid who i ignored and said 'pravala na enakku pasi palagiduchu.. Ivanala kandippa pasi thaanga mudiyathu' (its ok brother, iam used to hunger.. Let him eat he doesnt seem to bear hunger). The whole nanganallur help group was taken aback.

Reeling first under droughts, and then under floods. Seeing the worst bring out the best in people. Seeing the vast generosity and heroism than man is potentially capable.

" I will take pictures only of materials being stored/segregated/handed over to volunteer teams/arriving at camps.I will NOT be able to get you photos of stuff being distributed, showing people receiving it individually in camps because I don't think there is any dignity in doing that and I don't know if it serves any purpose at all. Thank you." - Merlia Shaukath.
