Rajagopalachari on Chemical Farming

Dear all,
Late C. Rajagopalachari (CR) - after his brief stint as Governor General of India - became CM of Madras state in early 1950s for a very short period. During that period, he came to attend a farmers' conference at Arachalur in TN's Coimbatore district. While entering into the venue, CR saw EID Parry company's representatives distributing notices to the farmers explaining the virtues of chemical fertiliser.
While inaugurating the conference CR said at the outset, "I know the farmers of Coimbatore very well. They are pucca drunkards. Ruined their bodies and families by consuming liquor. If they apply the chemical fertiliser being advertised by Parry company, their lands will also get damaged like their bodies." Mind you Rajaji was not an agri-scientist; only a qualified lawyer. A gentleman (now in 90s) who attended that workshop told this information to me two yrs ago. He is alive.
The dead fields of South, North, West and Central India are testimonies to Rajaji's prediction.
If I had the direct email address of Rasputin, I would have forwarded this first to him, because he needs to read this, since he was the agent of the Americans in selling their fertilizers, (India had no fertilizer manufacturing factories in early/late fifties) to prop up the dwarf wheat and rice verieties in the whole of Asia, India, in particular, (when we had other options, for sure), in the name of the so-called green revolution (a term coined by a scientist affiliated to the US Department of Agriculture, but robbed by this great agri-scientist) and ruined our agriculture and our agrarian ethos.
What prevents the Modi Sarkar to stand up to this man's nonsense? Instead, it sends Javadekar to Chennai to touch the feet of this Rajaguru and get his "blessings"? And, for what? To please the yankees and get the GM crops onto our soils? Will the mandarins in Delhi ever learn?
