Deracination - Loss of religion

There was never such a self hating community as the English-ized Indian, despising himself, his roots, and ao also the majority of his land, simple and rooted. The indoctrination is deep, and it took me time and the patient discussions with many friends to face it clearly myself.
Even when these English-ized indians call themselves activists and set out to 'liberate the masses', they essentially do so from a position of superiority and superciliousness. Such are essentially irrelevent to the narratives of this land. Their impact will stay very very limited.
The casual way in which they abuse gods and sneer at 'idol worship', and suggest that the 'masses' 'get literacy' rather than 'go to temples' marks this community.
This newspaper cutting dates to the times when Nehru and Co. reigned, as today their inheritors reign.
But it is interesting to watch the changeing winds. The days of the deracinated are numbered.
Kabir and Basava and Gandhi and Nanak were the ones who ruled over the hearts and minds of people in our country. They were not afraid to take the name of God.
