The Secularism of this land.

Indian so-called secular socialist elite hegemony is not only crony and hypocritical in its economics and politics , it has no understanding of the spirit and cultures too .
If India is secular it shouldn't interfere in religion or run temples , or if it wants to , then run all religions including SGPC , Church and Wakf .
And only if it's a Hindu state then it has a right to run temples .
We need a SGPC fication of our temples . Elect among the believers .
SGPC also decides who will be allowed to vote .
In 2016 a stricter law was passed on who would be allowed to vote .
Those who trim or shave beard and hair, smoke or drink alcohol cannot vote in the elections to Sikh religious bodies, with President Pranab Mukherjee giving assent to a bill passed recently by Parliament.
The Sikh Gurdwaras (Amendment) Act, 2016, which changed the provisions of a 91-year-old law that regulated administration of Gurdwaras in Chandigarh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab, got the Presidential nod on Thursday, according to an official notification.
As per the Sikh Gurdwaras Act, 1925, every Sikh who is above 21 years of age and is registered as a voter, will be entitled to vote in the elections to Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) constituted to look after the overall administration and management of the religious shrines of the community.
The new law makes it clear that "no person shall be registered as an elector who trims or shaves his beard or 'keshas', smokes and takes alcoholic drinks".
The Sikh Gurdwaras (Amendment) Bill, 2016 was introduced in Rajya Sabha by Home Minister Rajnath Singh on March 15, this year and passed the next day. The Lok Sabha passed it on April 25.

Just yesterday in a Kerala based group in fb, a girl posted a sentimental post that she’s leaving the group because of too much restrictions. She used to post her creations -Oil paintings of Hindu Gods in the group from where she used to get many customers. She was asked by the admin( Hindu name) not to post Hindu Gods paintings as it was a “secular” group.
What is the actually the meaning of secular ? Shunning of religions or Equality of religions?
Was appalled by the huge support the admin received from everyone( all religions) for imposing such a restriction in a so called Secular group.
One of the several impacts of a wrongly placed Secularism in India which is naturally and inherently secular and inclusive, is being guilty or apologetic of who you are (especially if you are a religious Hindu).

  • Nimish Narshana Yes, that’s true

Unfortunately, as on now, ‘secularism’ is a kind of one-way street; in which Hindus must follow all the restrictions & others are free to do whatever they want

  • Sanjay Maharishi For a long time during college I too was under the impression that secular and atheist are the same.
    2
  • Alwar Narayanan Some thugs are trying to claim hinduism is their invention. They always have this habit of stealing other's hard work.

    This will pass
  • Asha Kachru Exactly! I m an atheist but saying that I m a Hindu being born in a Hindu family, does not in any way make me feel guiltyor apologetic.
  • Suman Bahuguna I'm 99% with admin minus 1% as i don't know the aim of group

i did admins of many groups and one main problem is keeping focus of members towards group's aims

    • Suriya Tejas Suman Bahuguna It’s a Tvm based group - it’s an active group where cultural activities, festivals, public events, personal experiences living in Trivandrum are all discussed and business promotions both home based and commercial are frequently posted.
This girl has had several customers from the group. But for some reason the Admin suddenly objects to her posts just on the basis of religion.
This was two days back and today morning I got a notification for an advert post seeking orders on Beef/,chicken takeaways. Ideally the admin should block that too saying beef is a sensitive issue.Anyways nothing happened, it was allowed. No issues on that but would really like to know how the parameters of Secularism are fixed where some items fall under Secularism and some do not .
I for one think, none of us in India know what secularism actually is. It is used selectively both as shunning of religion and equality of religions as per one’s convenience depending on which religion is on focus.

  • Sumithra Prasad That so true..
Even NGOs are nowadays termed otherwise.
We can celebrate all other Festivals like Eid, Christmas... We are secular ..

But we can't celebrate Diwali with our Students.. As some people believe oh... You are being very Orthodox and Castiest.
So a Hindu can't say.. He's Hindu because that makes him an Anti Secular.
I just don't understand where the sophisticated Elite are taking the whole concept of Religion.
Of course, we respect and love all Indians as One.. But to condemn Hinduism doesn't really make anyone Secular.

  • Sunny Pawar Wat are your views about Manusmriti??? Braminisn??? And caste oriented patriarchy???
  • Aparna Krishnan Every religion, like every community, has dimensions that are valuable and dimensions that need correction.

That is not the point of the post. The re read.

  • Aparna Krishnan Religiousness is the soul of this land.

  • Aparna Krishnan A secularism that defines itself as atheistic is a lost cause.

    • Sunny Pawar No religion is official vs All religions are equal ???

  • Fatema Chappalwala Agree, secularism can also be understood as respecting all religions. It depends on person to person.

    • Gangadharan Kumar That's mutual-respect Fatema. Secularism is the government / governance getting the heck out of anything to do with religion. To call a society "secular" doesn't make any sense, IMO.

  • Gangadharan Kumar Just show show most people have no clue what "secularism" is. From being a concept to separate religious institutions and government (thanks to the influence of the Catholic Church) - it has become this idiotic construct.

The irony is - in India - sec
ularims has degraded into shunning religion in private forums - wherease the government is busy administering Hindu temples and has a pletohra of policies based on religion.

  • Srinivas Samudrala Hindus goes to Church, Majid, Gurudwara etc but the same should not be Expected from others - This is Simple definition of Today's Secularism.

"You put pictures of Hindu gods on your FB profile ?"
"You also write some Sanskrit shlokas ..."
"You seem to quote Gandhi a lot ..."
All these seem to disturb some people. Usually English speaking upper class fancy colleged people.
The insecurity of those who have given up their roots, lost their respect and confidence in the vastness of their civilizational foundations is complete. In this land.

...

"The answer to religious extremism is not secular extremism, but religious liberalism. ... have my true religion and you have your true religion. I will respect your right to follow your truth and you must respect my right to follow mine. "

... remembering the many memes mocking and deriding religion. Which I used to object to, argue against. Till I learnt to unfollow fools.

Viswanath Lakshmanan Actually secularism itself shud be interpreted as religious liberalism. It's the far left that tries to cast secularism as some sort of blank canvas. They have brutalized Indian Constitution's great achievements in secularism with their toxic interpretations.
