Dinamalar article on Jeevani Milk

Dinamalar article translation.
Jeevani” makes the children well and healthy. (Dinamalar, Mar 10th 2017)
Jeevani scheme, introduced by an eminent ayurvedic Vaidya, has been a major success story. It has achieved remarkable results among children and young adults in addressing anemia and malnutrition. If only the central and state governments were to adopt this scheme, the nation’s youth will have a healthy future.
Impact of modern technology, food grown with heavy synthetic inputs, changes in lifestyle, have all affected the health of our youth. This is more so among poor children and and especially those who grow in orphanages and hostels.
Permanent Solution
This situation is prevalent in all states in the country. Many social workers feel that this trend will affect the future development of India.
Dr. Girija, an eminent ayurvedic physician, the founder director of Sanjeevani Ayurvedic Centre, has implemented the “Jeevani” scheme which has proven to be a remarkable success.
She says, “Majority of our youth in India are afflicted by anaemia. Lack of nutritious food and intake of excessively sour and spicy food has led to this situation”.
“Giddiness, cramps in legs, cold, feeling full despite eating less food, losing weight due to lack of appetite, indigestion, frequent headaches, vomiting, tiredness, laziness are all symptoms of this condition.”
“We found this prevalent in many hostels, homes and residential schools where we conducted a survey. So, to address this, we designed the scheme called “Jeevani”. We launched this scheme to begin with in a school in Andhra Pradesh in a village called Palaguttapalle. There we provided the malnourished children between the age of 1 and 5, 2g Aswagandha (also called Amukkara chooranam) in 200 ml of milk every day. We also gave them specified, small quatities of loha basmam for six weeks”.
Help from Institutions
“With the very significant positive response in the children within a few weeks, including a significant improvement in energy and learning ability, we are now taking this scheme to malnourished children across Tamilnadu and India with the help of other organizations.”
This scheme currently is being implemented in partnership with several individuals and groups in Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh, Andaman islands, Jharkand, Maharashtra and Gujarat states. In Tamilnadu, Chetpet in Chennai and the Sarvodaya residential school in Thirukovilur in Villupuram district participate in this scheme.
If only the central and state governments take interest in this scheme and implement it across the country, it can create a significant positive impact towards a healthy and active youth across the country. This will help in the positive development of the country.

For a limited period, Dhatri loham, an iron tablet, is also provided. We are only spending Rs.10/- per child per day towards this. We have also employed an ayurvedic Vaidya who visits the school 3 times a week to provide other forms of medical attention to the children, we are happy that we are able to address 500 children every day through the implementation of this scheme”.
