This is English classes going on. The senior kids are in frame, Class 11 and 12. Kavya, Chandu and Shruti.

My friend Lakshmi Sv is talking on the phone from Delhi. The kids from class 4-10 gather together at our home.
WIth one smartphone between the eight of them, they read a story on the screen, practice talking, expand vocabulary, and have fun !
Keerthana, Sasi and the other younger kids are listening, and will again be taught at night by the elder kids at night.
Despite all hurdles, one moves on. As best as one can.
Cheerfully.

Six children poring over one smartphone. Learning English over small stories.
Keerthana, Sashank, Kavya, Chandu, Chaitanya, Sweetie.
Im sitting hundreds of kilometers away locked down in Chennai. Guiding.them today.
Keerthana wanted to know where Lakshmi Sv madam is. She is their official 'teacher' for these unofficial online English classes. I told them that I was her substitute for 2 days.
They were not impressed. I have been their neighbour since they were born. They want novelty in teachers ! They enjoy Lakshmi teaching them.
Against all odds. Lack of apparatus, and regular schooling, we do what we can.
That the government expects children in poor villages, without a computer and with poor net facilities to do online learning at par with kids who have well provided with all this is a joke.

Happiness is sometimes a laptop.
Roopa's children Sravanthi and Dinesh hold it up with pride.
When trying to do online learning in a village. For months.
Poring over a shared cell phone. Getting headaches.
Not able to sustain.
And then unseen friends, @oviyasekar from @_musiri, @tsapna and others send this gift. And suddenly learning seems more possible.
And Roopa now sends this picture of beaming smiles.
Roopa is part of Paalaguttapalle bags. She works hard to sustain her family. The children are bright, hardworking and study in the government hostels
Chandana, Pawan and these children will share the laptop
