These beautiful handmade bags go out with today's parcels to reach homes πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜... I sincerely hope and pray Aparna that the village ladies are able to turn it into a permanent livelihood /source of income. these bags are so sturdy and beautiful at the same time !! — with Aparna Krishnan.

Happiness is getting the first "Hastkaam " logo bags made by women of Dalitwaada in Chittor district πŸ™πŸ½πŸ™πŸ½πŸ™πŸ½πŸ™πŸ½overwhelmed by happiness ... thank you Aparna for this. know it took effort to get them made in indigo colour as the ladies didn't have it ... I was pleasantly surprised to see them in Indigo ... thank you ... — with Aparna Krishnan.

(And in the beginning months, when everything was a challenge, this was the kind of understanding and support that helped them on their path. A path strewn with stones. But also rose petals.)

I need the name and a peacock logo. Can you do indigo colour please ?
We are not able to get all colours, They have to manage with what they get in tirupathi. They have the basic red, black, blue and green right now. Let me ask them to find out. This is part of the problem with their having to do business in a rural area. Cant get all things, and overheads keep adding up as one tried to procure everything.
I can imagine completely. Let them use whatever they have with them. It can be in different colours as well.
(Deepshika had also posted them 4 sarees as a 'return gift'. That was the first gift that they had ever received.)

Deepshikha Gupta ordered bags from the women in Palaguttapalle. The next thing they knew was that the postman from Vallivedu had called them saying that they had a parcel for them, addressed to Anita and Annapurna. They went to the PO, 4 km away, collected it and brought it home. They found four beautiful sarees in them, cotton baatik sarees !
They were thrilled, and proud that a customer had sent them a gift in return ! The sarees had thoughtful notes pinned onto each of them, with names also mentioned. Anita told me, "Madam, this is first time I have possessed a cotton saree."
This is the nature of engagement that validates much more than economic gain. It nurtures giver and receiver into deeper worth.
