Just saw a post on NRI couple, adopting a village and empowering the people.
As wrong as it can get.
1. NRI. Irrelevant.
2. Adopting a village. One cannot do that. A village is a vast and gracious civilization. If one is humble, it may adopt you.
3. You cannot empower that community that feeds and sustains you. It empowers you. At best one can work with it.

Unless the words themselves are right, everything goes wrong.
To reach to communities far poorer than us, but far richer in generosity, in their gods and culture, in their ways of livining sustainably and collectively.
And to seek to school them. To develop them.
Into becoming like us.
Is it ignorance. Or an overweening arrogance.
One cannot 'adopt a village' ! One can adopt a puppy. A village is a hoary civilization.
Yet one may seek to be adopted by a village. The requirement for that however is complete humility
And that day will be the day ones real education will begin. And rooted in that education, meaningful action.
