Yesterday was a very interesting engagement between Eashwaramma from my village, illiterate and wise, and Dr. Girija, a foremost ayurvedic doctor of the day.
Each learnt from the other of herbs and medicines and treatments. And Eashwaramma showed the doctor a shrub found down the road, katti paapati, which is effectively used for epilepsy in the village. We all went down the road as she showed us different medicines available there. In turn she saw the arjuna tree, learnt of its value as a foremost heart medicine, and collected the bark to take back to a heart patient in the village.
I need to write a detailed post on this. This is the only way India can progress, by respecting and drawing on the strengths and learnings of all, on a platform of mutual respect and equality. And understanding first and foremost the vast learnings in villages.
Katti paapiti aaku.
The juice with garlic and pepper is given for epileptic attacks of people and of cows.
