Seriously, I want Brahmins to actually be truthful to their roots and dig up stuff that we're losing. So much can be done by them, but they're sitting in MNCs and selling the country one parcel of land at a time

Simple example, I don't know Sanskrit but I know a lot of knowledge is sitting with no one to use it.

Knowledge that can impact our lives in many ways, especially for the people who can't afford Western technology driven knowledge.

In medicine, agriculture, arts, environmental work, water conservation, so much more

Nammalvar ayya narrated this once. When the Japanese started raising fish in paddy fields, many people got excited and said we should also do it.

Andal in her Tirupaavai has sung about fish in red rice fields! All that knowledge is caught in a trap of neglect"

  Why are you calling upon brahmins to disseminate knowledge. They have a reputation for hoarding knowledge.

  The Dharma of a brahmin is to use his learning for society, and live on what society gives him. That the arrogance of learning not run riot.

  Many lived by that. Many failed it. As in every community. The need is for us of remind ourselves of our individual and collective Dharma. As Hima has done.

  Last week, I went to Thiruvallikeni Parthasarathy temple and was walking past the wall where the 30 Pasurams of the Thiruppavai are inscribed. I started searching for this particular one above and ended up reading all 30..felt so good..Wish all of us were taught in mother tongues with focus on such literary wealth....

  200% agree. Loss of language is first step to loss of #ROOTS.

  Local medium schooling for all will be the biggest levelled, apart from taking us back to our roots.

    The problem here is manifold.

    Religious people who can read this will pick the first two lines (Bhakti aspect) and focus on only that. There is so much reference material to those times in the lines. The ones who are interested in that like me, are lost as we haven't studied in MLM and barely managed to pass Tamil!

    Why can't they have an elective like Old Tamil in school? Don't even conduct exams or award grades for that. It's just knowledge in it's pure form...

    Now also sanskrit is a subject in school. Kids and parents take up saying it is easy to score. No one really learns the language for the sake of learning these days. They are just like non core subject that shud be easier to pass and rest core subject land them in a peofessional courses.

    Kaveri Murthy Yes. So not as an optional subject. But the medium should be compulsarily local medium in ALL schools till class 5 or 7.
