friend was remembering the movie Gandhi.
She was recounting how in S.A. when Gandhi started his satyagraha the white policeman asked, 'Oh, a general strike ?', and Gandhi answered, "No, a day of prayer and fasting". And the policeman agreed, "Yes, a general strike'".
Only from those levels can any lasting change happen ... the level of Gandhi then who meant 'satya'graha when he used the word.
