We use plastic covers, and village after village starts using it, and in our village now they do not carry a cloth bag to the weekly santa (shanty) any more. They 'buy' a black plastic cover for Re. 1/- !
At the other end, disposable sanitary pads have entered villages ... and all the young girls now use it. Where old sarees, neatly folded were a perfectly valid choice ... washed easily, drying quickly ... suddenly, that is seeming less 'desirable'.
All our wayward ways and choices have ripple effects into communities which can scarce afford them ... and all my little speeches have little effect ...
