Village vignettes - Trees in drought
Every tree in the field has succumbed to the drought. The farmer's only asset in that land and the trees. There is no money to cut down all these trees and replant saplings. There is no water to nurture those saplings. And there is no assurance about what other calamities will befall before the tress grow to yielding stage.
The farmer has lost hope. And faith.
