Village vignettes - Anthills and religion

The sacredness in every stone and atom is the soul of this country.
Varalu and Roopa saw a snake in the anthill. They went and got milk and cow urine which was sprinkled over the anthill, and kumkum and turmeric was applied, and flowers offered. The white thread was twined around.
Soaked rice and til and bajra, the traditional offerings made to Nagamma were made, and distributed to all. Now people go and for that stillness of a moment bow to the god.
