Gavaramma

Children are shapeing a goddess, gavaramma, of cowdung. This godess has eyes of eggshells, eyebrows of tangedu stamens and teeth of tice, and is wrapped in a white cloth dipped in turmeric and placed on the bed of flowers. They children pray to her every evening after lighting a lamp on the flower tray, throoghout the month of sankranthi, and sing and dance in a circle around the plate placed on the ground.
