Gavaramma, the goddess, is lovingly fashioned of
cowdung and worshipped thro' Sankranthi.A superficial urban culture looks down on cowdung. A higher rural culture is able to worship its goodness as a goddess.
The small cowdung image on the rice seive, yellowed with turmeric, is gavaramma - and everynight gabbeyala songs are sung by women and girls who circle the tray with dance steps.
