Girija was today asking a counter question ... with their deep faith in god and god's ways, will the village people never revolt, cause a revolution.
It was not easy to answer ... I cannot imagine my village people walking into the houses of the wealthy and pillaging.
But maybe the living faith in god gives a very different kind of courage . It gives Eashwaramma the courage to share the last glass of rice at home with the mendicant knocking at the door of the hut. It gives Varalu the courage to last out when she has three small infants to bring up singly, when her brother sends her out of his house, and when she has no asset or education on her side. It gives people the courage to follow dharma, even if that dharma were to put one's future at stake. But maybe it will not fuel a revolution.
Maybe Gandhiji's satyagraha was built on this courage. the courage to put oneself at stake.
