Kavya and the cow.

I asked Eashwaramma's granddaughter Kavya if she would come with her grandmother to Chennai when she came for the cataract operation. The village children love coming here for a few days ... to simply relax, and walk down to the beach.

Kavya replied, 'No madam, i cannot. Who will graze the cow ? Sasi will have to come with Avva (grandmother) because he keeps fighting with me and hitting me. I will stay back and look after the cow.'

That is the deep sense of answerability and responsibility that our village children grow up with.
