Village vignettes - rural hotels

Far from the madding crowd, and far from glass walled restaraunts there exist spaces. Where for 98/- ruppees me, my daughter, my husband, Siva who drives the auto and Venkatesh, our neighbour in the village ate a filling breakfast of 5 idlis and 2 small vadais each. These are spaces where Siva and I sit with equal comfort and claim, and despite all other differances the fundamental equality is accepted.
A city has lost these spaces where common human equality, sans all patronizing, exists. Even in its imagination.
It is in such spaces that many answers we ache for can be found.
