The day we reached the village I asked Eashwaramma if we could eat with her, as the firewood was damp and I did not feel like cooking. She happily agreed. Kavya, took out the two brinjals left at home and a few beans, and made a liquid curry to serve Eashwaramma, Sasi and herself and Nagesh and me and our daughter. It was more delicious than anything I had tasted. maybe it was the flavour of love.
As we all sat together in her little home 10 feet by 10 feet, she beamed happily, 'When did we all sit together like this and eat last ?' Food that filled the heart and the stomach and the soul.
