In Ayurveda, it is advised to apply Elaneer Kulambu (Kotakkal) once a
week. Rasanjana is what the text advises, but this is commercially
available these days, and is used. Everyone can and should apply it. We
all do.
It is applied as a collyrium in the eyes. It is very sharp and drains our the kapham, and strengthens the eyes. Used regularly it should prevent cataract.
