Plastics and us

My friend referred to a video where in a small town in Tamil Nadu 64 dead cows were cut up to discover why they died, and it was because of many kgs of plastic waste jamming their stomach.

This is the criminality we are all part of. And somewhere we do not let it sink deep because we are stakeholders in the game of plastics. To realize
the deaths that I am causing, also means that I need to say 'no' to everything packaged in plastics, and walk that extra mile to look for unpackaged stuff.

So much simpler to buy whats easy to buy, and let the dying cows slip out of my mind. We all, each of us, stand indicted.

People should earn the right to 'discuss environment' ! It should be an earned honour. A very simple token step could be to first completely give up disposable diapers and sanitary napkins. Old cotton cloth has been used traditionally (and presently), simply folded and used. and washed and reused. It need be be made any more complicated than that !

And we also need to remember that in our country in cities there are poor who rummage in dustbins. And each time I see someone seaching in he dustbin I cringe - and also remember that people throw soiled diapers there.
